The carotenoid most common is the β-carotenoid (Pro-vitamin A). The carotenoids are said to have anti-oxidative, anti-carcinogenic and immune-modulating features.
Vitamin A is important for sight and reproduction, growth, cell differentiation and gene expression.
They are also a great source of Vitamin C and selenium.
